HTMLメールは最近では一般的になった。
当然テキストメールとの違いは、画像が使えるか使えないかという点だが、まだまだクリエイティブ的には弱いと思う。通常のバナーに比較して、面積が広く訴求スペースも広いのでユーザーに十分に情報を伝えられるはずだが、いまいちである。おそらくWEBの延長でクリエイティブを作っているせいではないかと思う。
メールとWEBの違いは、プッシュ型かプル型という点にある。これに気がつかないと大きなミスを犯す。
WEBの場合は、デザインや色にこだわってできるだけ注目を集めようとするが、メールの場合は、自分のメールボックスをチェックしたときに、まずはメールの件名をみて自分に関係するものかどうか判断して、メールを開封する。したがってメールの件名と開封したときのイメージがかけ離れているとユーザーはメールを読まない。この点に気が付かないと、そもそもメールを読まれないという事態が起こる。
またWEBはデザイン重視だが、メールは情報（コンテンツ）重視である。この２点を満たしているHTMLメールはまだまだ少ない気がする。
